Without Music Life Would Be A Mistake

‘’What trifles constitute happiness! The sound of a bagpipe. Without music life would be a mistake. The German imagines even God as a songster.’’

Nietzsche wrote these lines two months before his fourteenth birthday.  It seems as if he was quite young to apprehend the value of music, however his statements prove otherwise.

The truth is, music is everywhere. In our everyday lives we can hear a beggar singing in order to gather the money for his last meal of the day, a thrilling melody during the climax of a fascinating movie or even a bird chirping at a distance.  Music -essence of our soul and heart-is a way for many to express themselves, express their thoughts and feelings; express their experiences and most of all music is a way to express what comes from deep inside the heart. What is life without music is like asking what life is without the ability to express oneself. Moreover, music does not restrict the listener in the way that movies or graphic art does. The listener can imagine whatever she or he wants to when listening to music.

Why would life be a mistake without music? Because we live in a world where people want you to be who they see you as. Family members want you to act and be like them and society wants you to obey to what is seen as ‘’normal’’. Therefore, if you don’t have music to bring you to what your heart desires; you get lost in the crowd, you get lost with peer pressure, you get lost in doing what everyone else wants you to do. But if you have music in your life it reminds you what your purpose is on this earth, it gives you the courage and strenght to express yourself and therefore pursue your goals and dreams. Have music in your life and you will start being alive and it will reconnect you with your heart, soul and spirit. With music your life can never become a mistake.
