Winter Holiday

Hello! My name is Bill. I have 2 weeks until I turn 18. I study at Thornton Academy, one of the best high schools in America. I live in the US state of Maine. I was actually born in New Jersey, but we moved to Main when I was 2 years old. My father is a neurosurgeon. My father stays in the hospital more than home, only coming home to change his clothes, shower and sleep. These days, I come home very late because my classes are busy. I can hardly see my father when I come home late, but my father calls when he takes a break. My mother is the head of accounting in a company. Tomorrow is the first day of term 2. During the winter holidays, we went skiing and nearby cities on my father’s days off. When we went to South Dakota, we first went to South Dakota’s first church. When we got there, I saw my best friend, Zack. He also came with his family. After we finished touring the church, Zack and my family sat down and ate at a cafe. Me and Zack were going to have dinner after getting permission from our families and walking around a bit more. After walking a bit, we arrived at the Rushmore Mountain Monument. After taking some photos in front of the monument, we sat at the cafe by the monument and drank coffee. While drinking coffee, a light was reflected in my eye. As I was looking where the light was coming from, I noticed that the light was shining through the eye of the Abraham Lincoln statue at the memorial. As far as I know, there was no substance added to the eye of the statue to shine. I didn’t care because something like glass had fallen. Then Zack told me that a light was reflected in his eye, and the light was reflected from George Washington’s eye. After Zack said that, I looked Abraham Lincoln in the eye again. A hieroglyphic text was reflected on the ground from Lincoln’s eye. Then, in Washington’s eyes, it was reflected right next to him as a continuation of that hieroglyph. Me and Zack literally jumped up in fear. I immediately took a photo of the hieroglyph. I was just going towards the reflection to study the hieroglyph and the reflection when the waiter came and when the waiter came the reflection went away. After the waiter left, the reflection came back. When the reflection came back, we went to examine the hieroglyph. Neither of us understood hieroglyphs. After doing some research, we decided to take the hieroglyph to Zack’s father. Just in case, Zack took his picture before asking the waiter for paper. After getting pen and paper from the waiter, we put the hieroglyph on paper. After we put it on paper, we went to my family. When we went to them, they had finished their meals and shopped for souvenirs. We were seated right next to Uncle Dan (Zack’s father). We said our friend sent us a hieroglyph that we wanted us to decipher. He said to solve it yourself first, but then he was convinced. After deciphering the hieroglyph, he transferred its meaning to a piece of paper and gave it to us. We thanked Uncle Dan and moved to another table. What was meant in the hieroglyph was that we should first go to Abraham Lincoln’s tomb and follow the clues there. When we went to our families, they were talking about where we were going now. We suggested the city of Springfield. All of them found this idea very good and accepted it. After 1 more day in South Dakota, we set out for Springfield. We were very tired when we arrived in Springfield. We quickly found a hotel and settled in. After a few hours of sleep, we went down to the hotel breakfast at 8.00. We said we would leave after breakfast and left. When we arrived at Oak Ridge Cemetery, we immediately learned a little about Lincoln’s grave. After wandering around and exploring, we went on a deeper and more careful search, trying not to attract attention. I was looking at the wall etc. while Zack was inspecting the tomb and the grounds. Next to Zack Lincoln’s grave (the fake one, the actual body is under the cemetery) he found the inscription “If you want to find Lincoln’s real body, make an ocean for the ants.” What was he talking about when he said ocean for ants? We went back to the hotel to think about it. When we got back our families were waiting for us for dinner. After dinner, Zack and I went to my room. While we were thinking about the puzzle, we decided to go to the same place again tomorrow. In order to do better research, lanterns from the market etc. We bought things. Since he was talking about the ocean, we had nothing in our bags except two flashlights, spare batteries and food. We filled the remaining empty spaces completely with water. This time, Zack looked at the walls, I looked at the tomb and the floor in case one of us missed something yesterday, just in case the other one might notice. After examining it for a while, I saw an arrow next to the writing on the tomb. Zack had found an arrow on the wall. When we took a better look, we noticed arrows etched into the floors and walls. When we started from the grave and followed the arrows, we saw that the arrows ended in a bowl. Thinking that the answer to the puzzle might be this bowl, we poured the water into the bowl. When we put the water in the bowl, a hole was made in the middle of the bowl and the water went through the hole. Water began to flow from the bottom of the bowl, as if drawing a path. When the road stopped, we guessed that the water had run out, and poured all our remaining water and the free water in the cemetery into the bowl. The water started moving again and ended up on a wall. We immediately went to the place where the water ended. As a matter of fact, the water was still flowing, but the road was over. Which meant we had to get to the other side of the wall. After examining the wall for a while, we realized that there was something written on the wall. When we examine it closely, “Make the 10cm hell!” on the wall. he was saying. We thought we could do this with our best blowtorch. There were only 3 hours left before the tomb was closed. We immediately started looking for a place where we could get out of the grave and get a blowtorch. After 15-20 minutes we were able to find a market. After taking 3 blowtorches, we immediately returned to the cemetery. It was forbidden to bring flammable tools into the cemetery, but we sneaked it anyway. As soon as we entered, we immediately headed for the door. On the door arrows were engraved around a 10cm gap. We immediately started to blow blowers into that space. After a while, the door started to turn red, starting from the gap. As the door turned all red, we heard a throttle and backed away. The door started to open. Luckily, our blowtorches didn’t run out of gas before the door opened. When the door was fully opened, the guards were coming to look because they heard a noise. We walked right through the door and the door was closed. It was very dark inside but torches burned on the walls until we got our lanterns out of our bags. We saw a post saying we should follow the torches. When we followed the torches, we reached Lincoln’s actual grave. Next to the tomb is a stone tablet: “Take this stone and go to Mr. B.’s tomb.” was writing. When we looked at the back of the tablet, there was a stone. We were torn between whether to take the stone or not, and we thought for a while. Finally, we agreed to buy the stone. When we got the stone, 6 small leather bags fell from the ceiling. When we looked inside the bags, we saw that they all had gold in them. Inside the largest of the bags was a note saying “Spend this gold while you find Mr. B.”. To Zack, “I wonder who Mr. B. is?” I asked. Zack immediately gave a clever answer. His answer shone in his eyes in Washington with Lincoln at the monument, and secondly, he said that Washington’s nickname was Mr. President. So, the next stop is Washington’s tomb. After returning to the hotel, we took a shower and went down to dinner. We convinced our family and went to Virginia. After packing our stuff at the hotel in Virginia, we immediately went to Washington’s grave. It wasn’t that hard to find clues there. We practiced the same movements as we did in Lincoln’s tomb and descended into the real tomb. It was very difficult to get the stone there, but we still took the stone and left the tomb. When we got back to the hotel, our families were getting ready to leave right away. When we asked what happened, they said that Zack’s father’s grandfather’s brother had a heart attack. We went straight to South Dakota. It was very good for us to go to South Dakota. While our families were in the hospital, we immediately went to the Mount Rushmore Memorial. We landed in the eye of Lincoln’s statue and Zack of Washington. Both statues had a hole in their right eye. We placed the stones at the same time. As we placed the stones, something like a hologram of stones showed us an underground cavern filled with gold, as if showing an x-ray. Arrows indicated an entrance under the mountain. When we went to that entrance, there was a space for the stones. When we placed the stones in the gaps, the stones fell to the ground and the door opened. When the door opened, we had at least 800 square meters of gold and jewels in front of us. After we filled the bags, we found on the ground and our own bags with gold, we took the stones and went to our families. Now that my uncle Dan’s relative was doing well, we had already begun preparations to return home. The hardest part of the job would be explaining these events to our family. After telling our families with great difficulty, the first thing either of us did with that gold was to buy ourselves a house and new car. The reason this was our first job was because we were both just weeks away from turning 18. And the remaining cave full of gold will be there for whichever of us needs it. One day, when I was alone at home, the doorbell rang. When I opened the door, two men were standing with pumps in their hands. They pressed me and asked where the treasure was. I said I don’t know either. The man asked again and I said I don’t know again. The man said, “Your final decision?!” asked. I said yes, too. After I said yes, they threw me into the house and burned the house down. Then I heard they were going to Zack’s house. I passed out from the smoke; I was in the hospital when I woke up. I had my family around me. I looked at the side bed and saw Zack. He was in the same situation as me. As soon as he recovered, we immediately went to the place where the treasure was located, and the treasure was still there. We were relieved. We loaded the gold in the trucks we brought and returned home.
