Wearable Technology: A Wear or A Tear?

If you think about the big picture, its impossible to believe that we came from room-full computers to watches that have any capability they do now. We all know that technology is accelerating in a way no one can catch up but so is nanoscience and when these two combine, you get inventions that revolutionize the world. One aspect of this collaboration is wearable technology, as simple as smart watches but as complex as Matrix’s technology.

This field of research has been going around for many years but its involvement in our lives has increased in the past few years. Watches, rings and glasses are being enhanced with a technological touch to make them “smarter”. As you can see, the common items used for wearable technology are usually accessories, but the movement of the sector proves its bright future. We might see wearable technology in any type of clothing we mat wear in just a few years.

This idea of technological involvement would probably bring a more lasting clothing industry because the material that will be used are not to sacrifice, so manufacturers will be extra careful with production. It will affect a vast number of sectors like finance, fashion, sports, health etc. Speaking of which, one of the communities to benefit most from wearable technology will be the athletes and the health sector because wearable technology will provide 24/7 easy and comfortable monitoring opportunities. Additionally, transitions like credit cards to smart rings or casual glasses to smart goggles may change the way the world works.

The usage of wearable technology, however, could be challenging for many to afford. This may cause a decline in the usage and overall interest. Since these will become items that only a specific population can afford, its validation will be lower than expected. It might also take time to tailor these to specific needs or its craftiness to individuals may cause the abuse of its usage, as we can see that one of the biggest problems that the current world faces is procrastination.

What we see in sci-fi movies might become a reality in the future, from coats that change color according to your thoughts or shirts that measure the calories you burn in intense workout. Although the idea seems charming, with the boost it might bring in a majority of sectors, it may also be challenging for the whole world to convert to this technology at once. All in all, one day what we have on can be enough for all our daily needs. Even though the idea has its pros and cons, you can’t deny how exciting it is to see the development of such cool technologies!
