Any good piece of idea or information has the potential to generate loads of impact on its receiver. The source of this information does not matter in most cases. However the style and the quality of the information that is being delivered matters. That is where we should draw the line of a “good” and “bad” information. And the most popular source of information throughout history has been books.
A book carrying the “good” traits as we have mentioned has the potential to change someone’s perspective on life. If a book truly has the right style that attracts and sustains the reader’s attention, has quality information consider that book a masterpiece. A masterpiece for me is “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. The style of this book manages to sustain the reader’s attention while feeding valuable information to the reader’s mind with its great storytelling.
The reason that this book changed my life is that it tells you to understand and acknowledge the signs that life gives you. Alongside understanding these signs, it tells you to always follow your dreams without feeling a slight feel of failure.
The book’s understanding of dreams is like chasing your biggest helper. The dream you want to reach helps you gain new techniques and abilities for you to reach it. And in that process the dream helps you achieve it.
The great picture we can get from this book is that people who achieved their dreams did not do it without difficulties. They went through tough times, just like anybody else. But the difference between the successful dreams and failed dreams is that the ones who achieved their dream did not give up when they encountered obstacles.
Since I have read this book I have tried to integrate this way of thinking in order to achieve my goals.
Throughout this text I have used the word “potential” more than once. The reason is that according to Aristotle what we see is actuality and it has potential. With the right amount of work potentiality can turn into actuality. But most people tend to focus on actualityand not its potential.
Let me explain with an example. If you show a block of wood to a person on the street they will say that it indeed is a block of wood. And close to no one will say “With the right amount of carving it can be turned into a great ring”. With only focusing on actuality and not potential we limit ourselves.
What I am trying to say is that any good piece of information acquired from a book has the potential to change someone’s perspective on life with the right amount of work.
