To Live

Another tiring school day was over. I was walking home exhausted and suddenly it started to rain. I was not wearing a raincoat or an umbrella. Normally, I loved rainy weather, but I can’t be happy for a reason, even the rainy weather wasn’t enough to suppress my anger. I sat at a bus stop and rested for a while. I stood up, walked 2-3 steps, and felt a hand behind me.

I turned around and a dark-haired man said, “Ma’am, you dropped your wallet.”I took a closer look at the guy and realized that he was actually my high school bench mate. I was confused because it was rumored that this guy died in a car accident, and he wasn’t at school in the last days of high school. I called out the man’s name excitedly, but the man looked at me as if he didn’t understand. I said;’’ Don’t you remember me? We were bench mates in high school.’’ The man pretended to understand but I was pretty sure he didn’t. There was silence for 2 minutes. The guy broke the silence by saying ‘’Where do you know me from?’’ I was surprised. I realized that there was a problem with this guy. I said ‘’We were bench mates at high school’’ again. He didn’t understand so at this point I was so sure that this guy had some memory problems. I thought he had memory loss from the accident. I offered him to sit in a cafe to have a chat. The man nodded happily. We sat by the window in the cafe and watched the rain for 2 minutes.

I was wondering why he didn’t talk to me once since we sat down. The man hurriedly stood up and said, “I have work to do,” then disappeared. I was really angry at what he did. I was wondering what was wrong with this guy. When I stood up I noticed that this guy left a phone number on his chair. I wanted to call him, but I guess it’s not worth it for this guy. When I got home, I hung my coat on the hanger and suddenly something fell off my coat. It was the same card as the card number the guy left. I called the guy. It’s debatable whether it was a mistake or not, but I never thought this guy would be this rude. The person who opened it belonged to a female voice. I realized that this was the guy’s mother. I loved his mother very much in high school. I introduced myself and she instantly knew who I was. The woman was crying talking about her son.

I really didn’t understand what happened to this guy, his mom said that this guy had all kinds of diseases. Such as bipolar disorder, sleep disorder, eating disorder, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder. I felt really bad about him. His mother told me that he was acting strangely because of a behavioral disorder.İt must have been really hard for his mother and himself. This boyish man I knew was one of the most energetic, happiest people I’ve ever seen in my life. I said to myself, “You never know where life will take you.”
