My eyes opened as wide as they could the moment I stepped inside a magnificent building. Walls were a combination of shiny silver and forest green paint which gave a mysterious ambiance to the palace. When I stared at the window on top of me, I saw a couple of white pigeons flying around the roof.
It took a lot of courage to walk around the room because of the slippery floor. I was having a hard time trying to keep my balance meanwhile people dressed up in fancy outfits were soaring effortlessly.
Women had crinolines and tight corsets on, however men were just wearing a basic suit. I glanced down at my old and muddy shoes with shame. “I should’ve picked something better.” I mumbled, “This was my first time travelling in time.”
After making sure no one had heard me, I started to wander around the room. Some couples were dancing, some were drinking and some were just gazing at each other with love. I felt a little weird and decided to sit next to a kid who looked to be about six or seven. He stared at me for a while and then ran toward a woman with a scared look on his face, I assumed that she was his mother.
My lips formed a straight line as I got out of the ballroom. The garden was stunning. Tones of pink and yellow shone through the green grass. Cherry red roses were climbing throughout the brick wall behind a pergola.
I approached there with small steps and leaned my back against the wall. Even though I felt a large thorn stinging me from my back, I did not move. Just then, I heard a woman shouting with horror. I squinted my eyes to see what was happening inside the building.
The lady that the kid ran to was screaming at me meanwhile other guests were watching her. I hardly swallowed and got out of the garden as fast as I could. Just before I had entered my time machine, I heard the woman shout, “Witch! I tell you, she happens to be a witch!” with a furious look on her face.
I grinned at her before I pressed the right button to get back to my time. It’s not that bad in 2024, I thought out loud.
