Time For Making a Wish

That day, which happens once a year, had finally arrived, it was my birthday. The time I had been alive had increased by one more year, and I was one year closer to death. For the first time, I woke up with a strange feeling inside. From the first moment I opened my eyes in the morning, I knew that something would be different this year. The slightly cold air I felt on my skin was enough to prove this feeling inside me.

When I sat up slightly from my bed, I was shocked by the view I saw from the window. It had snowed. Everywhere seemed to be enchanted by the pure white beauty of the snow. I was born in winter, but it had never snowed on my birthday in the city where I lived since I was born.

I started preparing for my birthday, regardless of the changes I noticed that day. I left the house with excitement. When I arrived at the place where I would celebrate my birthday, I did not encounter anything strange. I was chatting, laughing, and having fun with my friends. Everything was normal until it was time to eat cake. Whatever happened, happened at that very moment, when I was blowing out the candles.

It was as if darkness had fallen over the whole world. The sun seemed to have lost its power. The cold of the snowy weather was replaced by warm weather. Time stopped there. People had stopped moving and the world had stopped turning. I was the only one left out of time. I was the only living creature at that moment. Why was I going through this? Was everything going to stay like this forever? Before I even had a chance to search for answers to the crazy questions in my mind, a voice began to echo around. The voice was telling me that there was a box on the table. Indeed, there was a small silver box sitting right next to the cake. I quickly opened the box with curiosity and there was a note written on a small piece of paper inside. The note said, “To first person who forgot to make a wish.”

Then I realized why I was there. Wishes were a big part of a birthday. I closed my eyes. The moment I made my wish, when I opened my eyes, everything continued where it left off, as if nothing had happened. It was a strangely ordinary birthday for me.
