The window

She kissed her mother goodbye and went to her room. She took her book from the table and climbed into her cozy bed. With that wonderful scent flowing from the pages of the book, she turned the first page. Her eyes were gradually closing as she began to read the first sentences, and she was battling not to fall asleep. She couldn’t stop herself after a few pages and closed her eyes.

She got out of bed and surveyed her space. It was very unlike from her typical surroundings. It was mysterious, quiet, and dark. As a light beam entered through the window, she switched her attention to the curtains. She was attracted to gaze through the bay window by the curtains. She finally made the decision to stand. She quickly moved the curtains to the side. She squinted her eyes with the sudden sunlight piercing her eyes, and was dumbfounded at the sight facing her. It didn’t take her long to understand that the light wasn’t coming from the sun when her eye adapted to it, but rather from a torch. She stumbled back, her eyes wide open with concern as she tried to understand what was happening. She eventually started to hear the sounds of water filling her bedroom and ear-piercing machines. She quickly went to the window to get away from the area as the water rose quickly from her feet to her ankles. The window handle would not move, no matter how hard she tried. She grabbed a cloth and, without thinking, she hit the glass pane while surrounding it with her entire hand.

The air beneath her felt heavier and heavier as she fell with the broken window. She suddenly realized how ridiculous the circumstances she was in were. Everything came to a dead standstill in a second; she appeared to have fallen into a well. Around her, she could hear whispers. She got scared and began clambering up the gloomy, winding route to escape. The dust was making her hands icky. She couldn’t help but feel as though spiders were stepping all over her. She approached the well’s mouth in revulsion. She was exhausted from climbing. She thrown herself from out of the well. She had actually landed on soft ground when she thought she had hit the ground. Everything was happening so quickly that she had no time to process any of it before a new thing occurred.

She stood up straight where she had fallen. She moved to look around and noticed that the room was silent aside from whispers and that it was dark. Then she noticed a little glimmer of light. She turned her head in the direction of the light’s source. She quickly stood up and moved toward the curtain. She pushed back the curtain. No longer was there any light. Several robots in human form were approaching her and holding tools in their hands. The girl gave them a scared look. Her hand was leaning on the glass. The robots kept tabs on the girl’s actions and emotions. Suddenly, the girl felt small. She watched the emotionless robot faces. She looked around her bedroom. It’s silent and cold. She reached for her clothing. She was wearing clothing with a code on it. She made an attempt to read “subject 122222.” Her eyes widened. She pounch her hand towards the window. No matter how hard she hit it, it remained unbroken. She fell to the ground with an ache in her neck as her emotions are entangled.

The girl woke up. Her mother was calling her name and shaking her shoulder to get her up. Girl look around the surroundings. Her book was lying open to the last page on her bed. As usual, her room was cozy and vibrant. Then she saw her mother’s anxious face. She suddenly broke into tears and hugged her mother. She relaxed, “It was just a dream,” she said. They stood up and decided to head to the kitchen. Then the reflection from the window caught her attention. She slowly turned to the woman. Her mother gave her a sweet smile. But she was focusing on the metallic sound as the woman’s body moved. After the realisation, she placed her hand on her chest. She felt neither a heartbeat nor a warmth. A tear fell from her eye as she looked towards the window without an expression on her face.
