The Spring Contest

Every year in spring there is a bunch of challenges for the teenagers. Where if you get the most amount of points from winning challenges then you win the big prize. The prize changes every year and no one knows what it is until after the winners are announced.

It was the last year I could attend these challenges and I was adamant about winning this year. I have been attending for 5 years now and every year I made little mistakes that cost me the 1st place.

This year I attended the contest with a friend of mine, Pelin. It was the last year Pelin could attend as well but she never really cared for the contest, she was mostly there to have fun and dine. But seeing as how much I wanted to be the winner she decided to help me win.

On the first day of the contest, we were supposed to play paintball and not get hit. We wore suits that could detect if we were hit or not just like the ones worn on laser tag. The paintball was going smoothly which continued till the end of the game. Pelin and I had the chance to pass onto the next day without any hits.

The next day it was an eating contest, the one who ate the most doughnuts would win the first part. The second part was more challenging as we were supposed to eat jalapenos. The first part was a bit challenging for me but Pelin was much too happy about the dunts she got to eat. The second part started soon after the first one. It was the worst thing I had endured for all my life. It felt like my mouth was going numb but also had a huge fire inside. Soon tears were escaping my eyes. Pelin wasn’t so happy now.

A lot of the teens got out that round. But me and Pelin were still in. As soon as the challenge was over we were drowning ourselves in cold water and more donuts.

The last day, the last game. We were supposed to find a gold bracelet in a flower field. I was about to give out but we decided that we didn’t come all this way to give up. There was chaos all over the field some attacking others to get to this gold bracelet. As we went around for a little bit. I felt something poke my foot. “Pelin, can you look quietly and slowly at the ground? Am I mistaken, or is there a golden bracelet right under my foot?”

As we both looked down there was a gold bracelet. I slowly picked it up and went straight to the jury to give it.

That year I finally got the 1st place I always wanted. That year’s prize was two tickets on a cruise ship. Let’s say Pelin was also very happy about winning that year.
