The Note at Louvre

I woke up exactly at 8.30 that Saturday morning. I got out of bed and took a quick shower. I was feeling fresh and cheerful. I wore my light blue denim pant and a baggy shirt. I fixed my hair with the spray which was sent by my mother a week ago. I loved that spray, its vanilla scent had always made me feel good. Next, I was doing breakfast, I made toast with cheese and tomatoes in a fresh bagel and sipped my coffee. It had become 10.30. Finally, I was ready to go out.

I was walking down the streets with the birds chirping. I had always dreamed of living in Paris and there I was, I had rented an apartment in the middle of Paris for studying at the university I wanted. Thanks to my French mom, it had been easy for me to get used to living there and speaking French.

I got a message from my best friend, Théo, he wrote that he was sitting in the park in front of the Eiffel. I saw him and we spent some time at the park resting.

We decided to go to the Louvre Museum two days ago so we started walking to the subway to go there. The subway came quickly and we arrived at Louvre at the noon. It was very crowded inside, we got in barely half an hour but it was worth the waiting. All the paintings and artefacts made people feel like they were hanging around in a different universe. Both Théo and I were satisfied and enjoyed what we saw either. We tried to take a look at Mona Lisa closer, and although it was even more crowded than the entrance door Théo found a way between the crowd to the painting. While we were trying to walk there, a man bumped into me and almost made me fall to the ground.

We finally made it to the front of the Mona Lisa. We were amazed. She was gorgeous, and no one could deny it. We decided to leave, we saw almost every painting and got exhausted. I put my hand in my pocket to get my phone for one last selfie. I found a piece of paper in my pocket that said “Call me now!” On the crumbled paper, there was also a number whose last digit had been wiped out.

I was so panicked. I showed the note to Théo and we both thought the same thing. I wrote the number to my phone and we started to put all the numbers from zero to nine to the last digit of the number and called each one. Finally, a man picked up the phone when we wrote 9 to the last digit’s place.

The voice on the phone talked, we were breathless and were only listening to him. “There will be a raid on the museum, thieves will try to steal Mona Lisa. Go tell someone and request some help. Get everyone out of Louvre and save Mona Lisa from getting stolen. It will happen nearly ten minutes later. You need to believe me.” Then he hung up the phone.

We were frozen, I didn’t want to believe the things that we heard, but then the man that bumped into me in front of the Mona Lisa came to my mind. It must have been him who put the note in my pocket.

We started rushing to security. We told them everything and they didn’t believe us at first, but when we showed them the crumbled paper, the head of the security team made an announcement ordering everyone to leave the museum and telling it was an emergency alert. He also told us to leave and when we got out, everyone had been shocked and frightened. We started to wait, and all of a sudden, gun noises could be heard from Louvre.

Twenty minutes later, the security team and police were seen with the thieves arrested. Everyone was relaxed. Louvre Museum and the Mona Lisa were safe. It was an action-packed day.
