The Mystery of The Turks And Caicos Islands

You may have heard questions like “Does Turks and Caicos have something to do with Turks?”. Today, I did some research, I found 3 answers but I believe in just one of them.

First of all, I don’t think it has ‘Turks’ in it’s name because Turkish people lived there before. The Islands are approximately 10 thousand kilometres away from Asia. From what I know, Turks always lived in Asia, and moved to place to place in Asia, they were nomads. That’s why I don’t think this theory is real.

In the second theory, it says that it has nothing to do with Turks. This might be real, maybe they made it’s name ‘Turks’ just because they wanted. There is not much to say about this.

The third one, the last one but not the least, Turks and Caicos Islands’s has ‘Turks’ in it because the way it seems in the World Map looks like a Fez Hat, which was worn in the Ottoman Empire. Also they added ‘Caicos’ because in the Taino language, ‘caya hico’ means ‘series of islands’. And caya hicos is Caicos for shorter. I believe in this theory because it makes sense, if you look at the map, it actually looks like a fez hat. If this is true, I think it’s pretty cool!
