The Light Of The Dark

It was only a month ago that I was having an ordinary and a monotone life. I had a job, a life and a family. Even though my job was not perfect and it wasn’t offering a high salary, I was not complaining at all. I didn’t need an adventure in my extraordinarily typical life.  In short, I was like everybody else, a normal businessman. Except the fact that now the policemen all around the country were after me. If you had asked me if I thought I could be the most wanted person in the country, I would have laughed in your face.

There was a new guy in our office who started job a few days ago. He was very suspicious for me. I did not know him well but I was sure that the guy was weird. Then he didn’t come to work for two days or so and I noticed that there was a USB memory stick left on his computer. Later on, I was too curios to ignore the memory stick and as you can see now, I am a fugitive, one of the FBI’s most wanted.

Who could imagine that the USB memory stick that’s in my pocket can hold the great secrets of the world? Not me. But when I found the USB stick it was clear that my life can’t be as boring as it was before. It used to seem impossible for me to be different and do things for not just myself but others, for humanity.

After I saw that, in the memory stick there was really secret and critical information about my country and the world, I couldn’t believe my eyes and I started to think what to do with it. I knew that it was really valuable. Right at the moment some people in black started to appear around me and I felt the urge to get away from them. As I pasted through the office’s door, it was a policeman’s car which made me even more astonished. I started to run in the darkness of the night without knowing where I’m going. Although there was plenty of street lights that tries to light the street, the darkness in myself was growing out. I could hear the foot steps behind me. When I turned the corner, I saw something like a building. The idea of being safe behind the massive building warmed me up.

It turned out that the huge, impressive building I saw while walking through the pitch blackness of the damp, cold night was a school. Its lights illuminated every nook and cranny, ridiculing the sombre, silent cloak of the night like a persistent mustard stain on funeral attire. The street was still dark, but it felt brighter in my inner world. I caught myself staring at the building’s great ancient colons that holds the weight of not only the cement, but also the wise knowledge which enlightens everyone passing by. When the strong breeze hit my soft cheeks, the coldness remined me of the gloomy days of my school years but at the same time the years were the time when my friendship bloomed.

I realized that they were too close to me and they could catch me at any time. As they started to run even faster, I also ran as fast as I can like my life depends on it. When I was exhausted and almost breathless, I saw the dock by the sea. There was a mystical ship in the distance which made me think my decisions. I was on my way to the dock as they approached me. The moment they almost caught me, I jumped into the deep blue sea that contains the universe’s uncertainty, from the dock and I just vanished in the gorgeous darkness.
