It was a cold snowy Christmas day. I was sitting alone in my room, watching people rushing around out the window. It was obvious on everyone’s face how excited they were.
I don’t know how much time passed, but I heard a knock in my room and I came to my senses and headed there. I called out, “Come in.” The door slowly opened and first my aunts head entered my field of vision, then her whole body. “Let’s see if you’re sleepy, are you up yet?” I was told in a slightly scolding tone. My eyes caught the clock next to the door, even if only for a moment. It was quarter to four, I immediately jumped up from where I was sitting and said in a slightly embarrassed tone, “I was distracted.” “Then get together quickly, Rapunzel.” said my aunt. The way she called me like that reminded me of my mother.
My mother and father died as a result of a traffic accident a while ago. But I never looked at it that way, I think there was another reason behind it. I’m always thinking that whatever happened, it happened when I blew out the candles in my birthday. One day before this incident happened, it was my birthday, and in my dream, I saw a woman with long hair reaching down to her waist, whose skin was white and her eyes were shining as if they were challenging a star. She kept mumbling something about candles to me, but she was talking so fast that it was impossible to understand her. At the end of my dream, the only thing I remember was that the woman was slowly approaching me. No matter how scared I was, my body could not react. I couldn’t pull myself away neither shout. All I did was just stand there. Finally, she stood right in front of me and leaned into my ear and said, “Never blow out even a candle, no matter what.” I remembered it very clearly. Before the woman even pulled back from my ear, I woke up sweaty all over and the first thing I encountered was the worried looks of my mother and father.
I got rid of my thoughts and took a deep breath when my aunt touched my shoulder and turned me towards her. “Are you okay, Bell? Is there something wrong? Did I do something unintentionally?” I smiled and shook my head no in the face of this barrage of questions from my aunt. She touched my face and said, “Why were you sweating so much and what were you thinking?” My hand immediately touched my face. And I quickly turned my face towards the mirror next to the door, it was the same as it was that night. My face was the same as that day.
