The Fortunes and The Truths

This is the story of a coffee bean. It may seem boring. But trust me, it is definitely not. Once upon a time there was a small coffee bean from Colombia. Between all the coffee beans, his nickname was Winston. Winston was new to the community and he had a huge enthusiasm for everything.

But Winston was a little different from the other coffee beans. They were not sure what was it but they knew there was something odd. The reason behind that was the fortune-teller told everyone that a new coffee bean whose name starts with a “w” will come and curse everyone because he has special powers.

Winston was the perfect match for that description. However, he was so optimistic and good to make something like that. He always gave compliments to everyone. He was unbelievably nice. Because of that attitude of Winston everyone was always expecting the worse thing to happen. It was a huge prejudice just for a small unharmful coffee bean. Especially for Winston.

One day a captain of a ship came and asked that is the coffee beans are ready for going to Europe. All the coffee beans started to go insane. Only the old ones were relaxed. Winston wondered what was going on. So, he asked to the wisest one. And finally, Winston found out that they were taken away by the owners of the coffee industries for turning them into coffee powder.

Winston could not believe what he just heard. He wanted to rescue everyone and run away really quick. He decided to do the thing he was hiding form everyone since the beginning. He said that “I am a coffee bean, but I may at any time be a human.”. Then suddenly he transformed into a human.

Everyone was shocked and whispering to each other that the fortune-teller was right. He had special powers! But she was wrong about the cursing part. He was using his powers for helping them.

After that day coffee beans learned to not being prejudice for anyone. They understood the meaning of knowing someone before making assumptions about them. Nowadays this story is still being told to children by their parents as a bedtime story. And with that children can learn the importance of not judging the book by its cover, like the coffee beans.
