The Bet

”Hey Rosa!!!”

Oh my gosh, why does she have to be so annoying?! She is my classmate, Stephanie, and she is the most annoying person I’ve ever seen. She ALWAYS brags about how ”intelligent and perfect” she is. Actually, I scored better than anyone in my class in the recent exam but does she care? Nope!

Anyways, one typical Tuesday, Stephanie came up to me while I was getting ready for the lesson and said: ”Hey, do you know that I could play every instrument?”. I sighed. ”This is the third time you’re telling me this and that is physically not possible.” She suddenly got very angry and yelled ”You know what? How about a bet? If I show you the things I can do, I win; but if I can’t do everything, you win. I have a week to practice. The loser has to reset her social media account.” I was surprised because she was IN LOVE with her social media and fans, and that showed me how confident she was about winning but I had something on my mind so I wasn’t that worried.

A week felt like a year to me. I was kind of sad for Stephanie because all of her training would be pointless because the instrument on my mind was a very special one.

At last, the day came. I could see that Stephanie was very relaxed and proud of herself. I decided to surprise her last minute o be more dramatic. Stephanie came up to me and said ”Okay, let’s finish this. See, I recorded myself playing the violin, piano, guitar…” She continued a very long list of instruments. When she finished, she looked at me with a nose-in-the-air attitude ”See, there is nothing I can not achieve. I want to see that account in the trash bin.” I grinned and said ”Oh, actually I think you forgot nyckelharpa.” She looked at me with disbelief. ”You’re making it up to win the bet. There is no such thing called Ny…” I said ”If you don’t believe me, search it up.” She grabbed her phone and a few seconds later, she looked at me with a red, burning face with anger. ”It’s not fair, I won the bet.” I laughed and said ”Guess I’m the one who’s seeing your account getting deleted.”

After this day, she never bragged how smart and perfect she was.
