Living in a epoch, which requires myriad of new developments and new points of views, is something that egregious for our people. Because for us, the things that happened in the past will always remain the same. But without deserving the inheritence that has given us by our ancestors, history won’t repeat itself…
The things we achieved in the past always galvanizes us and that is the most crucial point of living in a country which has seen the most successful leaders in the world. But nowadays, the countries which don’t have heroes such as Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and Fatih Sultan Mehmet, are dominating the world. Another key thing to remember is that, the countries which have ”heroes” are puppets of those who are ”dominating the world.” But a trash metal group, Megadeth, summarizes that situation in the lyrics of ”Symphony Of Destruction.” You take a mortal man, and put him in control. Watch him become a God, watch people’s head a’roll. This song is written for wrong policy that a government follows. It does not only criticise the government, but also gives a lesson to humankind. It says ”just like Pied Piper, led rats through the streets. We dance like marionettes, swaying to the Symphony Of Destruction.” Pied Piper caused rats to follow him mindlessly into the river. By looking at the recent history, we can easily see that our ”Pied Piper”s are pulling the wool over our eyes. Notwithstanding pulling the wool, they easily make us believe their lies with telling about our history, however, our leaders don’t need the flute as Pied Piper does. Because awaking the chauvinist side of humankind, will make people follow them into the river.
The Earth starts to rumble, world powers fall. A’warring for the heavens, a peaceful man stands tall. A’tall, a’tall… This part of the song shows us a way to prevent ”The Destruction.” There are continues wars and chaos, until finally a man comes and becomes a leader. This man can be a better leader, or he can be the cycle restarter, depending on how you interpret it.
Consequently, despite all the mistakes that we did before, we can still see the light from dark clouds. But it depends on the attitude that humankind follows. But from my point of view, in order to develop countries in the ways which our epoch requires, we need to follow the path which passes through wisdom and science. Otherwise, Symphony Of Destruction will determine our future.
