Surveillance Technologies In Human Life

Technology has taken a place secretly in human society ever since smartphones have been of use. Some common surveillance technologies include data-gathering apps on smartphones and facial recognition software in smart security camera systems. Lately, Saudi Arabia has been adapting to real-time data processing technologies such as China, and like there are a lot of pros for the society, there are many cons for individual life moreover the privacy.

First of all, life has been easier for people ever since facial and eye recognition systems are created. For instance, we do not need to write a long password to send a text message and close it again, but in fact, our data from it is being transferred and used without our approval and knowledge. Secondly, surveillance cameras in social places and formal places have helped a lot of cases of robbery as well as murder being solved but in other cases, people bought those cameras to creep on children to sell or use the video recordings taken from them. For example, in the case that took place in July 2016 at the Toh Yi Drive flat in Singapore, a 48-year-old Malaysian man was sentenced to jail for filming his biological daughter in the shower. As a matter of fact, this behaviour is similar to that of surveillance technologies. During the course of their activities, they take photographs, videos, searches, and everything else you can imagine happening on the internet, and then they use the information for their own benefit, which is primarily monetary. Lastly, surveillance technologies tracking data in organizations help to have a better understanding of the customers and improve the efficiency of their workforces while tracking the performance of their employees. The only flaw in this is the way it shows what just has been talked about in front of a monitor as an advertisement which usually ends up with people being scared and eventually turning away from it.

In the end surveillance technologies only have advantages for the bigger circle and not the little one invading everyone’s privacy but still saving millions life at the same time. If it is used right, then the problems are solved.
