Superior Minds

If there is someone to blame for the world we live in today, the disasters we witness or see on news on daily basis, it is the human kind. The utter feeling of superiority we have for other living things has led us into this situation, causing us to doubt our reality and become delusional creatures. Nearly all of us are drowning in an irresistible feeling of arrogance and selfishness but we are not even aware of it. “An arrogant person considers himself perfect. This is the chief harm of arrogance.” said Tolstoy, explaining everything in a brief way.

The world we live in belongs to every living creature. Lakes are for animals to drink water, for fish to swim in. Trees are for ants to climb, birds to safely lay their eggs. Flowers are for bees to make honey and soil is for worms. It rains because plants need water, it snows to show bears that it is time for hibernation. All we have in this gigantic, one of its kind universe is balance. The balance of nature, weather and living creatures is what made us come this far.

Human kind is selfish, it always have been. Having the audacity to shed blood for a piece of golden or some money, racism that has been going all around the world for years, the sexism which never ended no matter what, people being judged because of their nationality, gender and sexuality… At this point it would be accurate to say that humanity is humanity’s worst enemy. The enemy that we will never be able to defeat because we are too blinded by hatred.

We have to accept the fact that the world does not revolve around us. Bees does not work hard for months just to serve us honey, trees does not bloom so that we can rip off their flowers. Of course we need to benefit from nature but the fact that they are also living organisms just like us should not be forgotten and we should not exploit anything insatiably.

Our ability to think and comprehend things is what differs us from other organisms. We can differentiate between what is real and what is not, we have emotions and logic. It is an irrefutable fact that we have some superiorities to other kinds, but having a god complex because we are clearly superior to those around us simply drives us into a dilemma and tricks our brains into believing we are powerful enough to defeat anything.

No matter what happens or how much power and money we hold, one should not lose their perspective of reality. At the end of the day, we are the only ones that can decide our boundaries and make choices that we will not regret afterwards. This is why we have the ability to think, the decisions we make affect almost everything in this globalized planet.
