Solution of Refugee Problem

The problem of asylum seekers and refugees is a global problem which sould be solved with global cooperation. All states in the world, especially developed ones, have to make efforts in order to improve the situation in countries which are the source of migration by making a global collaboration on worldwide inequalities, poverty and conflicts.
When we consider the reflection of the problem on our country, the first Syrians siblings who escaped from Syria due to the civil war arrived in Türkiye in early May, 2011. After this date the number of Syrian refugees in Türkiye has gradually increased. Any Syrian wasn’t sent back to their home country within the open door policy, and they were given temporary protection status. Türkiye has accepted more than 4 million refugees from Syria, and also from countries such as Afghanistan and Pakistan without any discrimination. Thus, Türkiye became the country with the largest refugee population in the world. Whereas, European countries did not accept them and closed their borders with wire fences or concrete walls for fear of their own securities.
Türkiye has been an example to the whole world with this humanitarian policy. But, as the staying period of refugees in Türkiye extended, multidimensional problems such as economic, social, cultural and security began to become a current issue. For example, the most significant impact of Syrians in the labor market is the employment of Syrians illegally with lower wages. The affirmative of Syrians to this demand of the bosses causes people to be unemployed in many places, which angers people against Syrians.
Many countries find the most permanent and effective solution in back-sending the refugees to their homelands. In order to do this, there are some requirements: As stated in the international conventions to which Türkiye is a party, the return must be made in a completely safe situation, where there is no war, and where individuals will not be subjected to various punishments or violence. Sustainability is also important in return. It needs physical, socioeconomic and political dimensions to be ensured.
For the cases where return can’t be achieved, refugee burden must be shared by the countries which can provide the requirements, proportionally to their populations.
In conclusion, governments in the world should prevent the wars, civil or foreign. They should work together to end poverty, inequalities and conflicts. They should ensure peace all around the world. If they can’t, they should help each other by sharing this encumbrance.
