Sail to the future

The sound of the waves, how it clashed into each other, I was mesmerized my the sea. My mother had told me stories about sailors and their lost treasures. My father on the other hand, was the sailor at those stories. Like Christopher Columbus, I too burnt with the desire to set sail to the vast and discover new foreign land. My mother was devastated when he left our shores but his glory left me known as the daughter of a great adventurer.

“Captain, I saw the shore.” one of the crew mates notified. “Good, get ready to settle.” I ordered him. The man ran and notified all others as I felt the cold breeze of the wind. This discovery would make my name headlines. I would no longer be the daughter of Christopher Columbus but make my own name, Sylvia Columbus the discoverer. When I set my foot at the sand, it was nothing like the regular one. The color of the sand was orange. I looked around me, there was long palm trees with lots of other kinds of trees. I suppose new species of trees would grow here since we weren’t familiar with it.
“Are you sure no one had stepped their foot here?” I asked my advisor. “I’m sure,” he mentioned. My men were the first to set their feet after me. I looked around, this was a place nowhere to be found on the map. We walked, discovering this piece of land. I had sent a messenger informing the royal navy of my discovery, I wanted to name this place after me. I named it The Sylvian. We were unsure of the measurements of this place. I had sailed with a crew almost as big as my father’s when he discovered the Caribbean. I proceed further inside the island. The sound of the birds began to increase out of nowhere. It gave my thoughts a sense of liberation and joy. Along the banks of tiny streams, lovely flowers in shades of red, yellow, purple, and pink were lounging contentedly. Following the streams allowed me to hear the peaceful sound of the wind gently blowing through the leaves and the playful sound of the water lapping on the rocks.

This discovery would change the faith of the world forever, but this was just a start. This was only the beginning of my journeys as an adventurer
