Review Of ‘Nope’

What if the sky itself became something to fear? Jordan Peele’s newest movie, Nope, explores this unsettling idea in a film that blends sci-fi and horror seamlessly. The plot follows the siblings, OJ and Emerald, who run a horse ranch. When they notice strange and unnatural occurrences in the skies above their home, they set out to figure out this otherworldly phenomenon. What begins as curiosity quickly turns into a fight for survival, as the skies aren’t what they seem to be.

The actor’s portrayal of OJ is intense and shows us a man followed by responsibility and trauma, while the sister’s vibrant and comedic performance brings energy, creating an intriguing contrast. Together, they create a sibling dynamic that is both entertaining and realistic.

Visually, Nope is stunning. The cinematography, with shots of the desert landscape and eerie night scenes, sets a thrilling ambiance all throughout the movie. The director uses CGI to create a sense of dread, without overwhelming the audience with many jumpscares. The sound effects are well thought out and enhance the tension, using silence and abrupt noises to capture the viewer’s attention.

Nope may not be a traditional horror film, but its thought provoking themes, along with its ability to make you stay on the edge of your seat throughout the movie, make it a great movie. I would recommend it to anyone who finds learning about the unknown intriguing.
