Recommendations for Out of School Activities

Students surely spend a lot of time studying for all their exams and stressing about their futures, but that is not all that being a teenager is about. They should have lives unrelated to school to clear their minds, spend all that pent up energy they have and socialize without worries. Three out-of-school activities have been chosen through polls held within the students, and here are what they think of them all.

Art Workshop: Our school roofs many creative minds. One of our students, Alicia, who was the one to come up with this idea in the first place, said these about having an art workshop as an out-of-school activity “My teachers all know me for doodling in class. This is only because I don’t get enough time out of school to do the thing I love. Many of my friends agree that an art workshop would be beneficial and help us focus better on our studies instead of our doodles in our notebooks during class as well.”

Community Service Program: Our students need skills outside of their trigonometry and English grammar. A community service program would help them connect with our community. Josh, from class 11 A said the following about this. “I volunteer in my free time. I think it is a great way for us, the builders of the future, to see what the community needs done. It really helps build empathy as well, I used to not care about anything around me until I started volunteering.”

Outdoor Adventure Program: This option is great for our students to do more critical thinking. They would not only use their minds though, as this activity would let them release some pent-up energy outside instead of running around in the hallways during lunch break. Emma said that “ We are teens, meant to run around and learn about different things. Enough history, I want to go out hiking with my friends for once!”

Most students appear to be enthusiastic about the outdoor adventure program, and while I believe that the art workshop would be the best, I also believe in democracy, so my vote is for the outdoor adventure program.
