In our developing world, debating on the topic whether we should use our emotions or our logic when making decisions has always been approached as a widespread controversy among individuals. Some asserted that using our logic was overall a better option since the decisions made by listening to our instincts could cause in regrets later on. They also stated that reason is the best guide and helps you find the right path, just like John Smith did. On the other hand, some individuals including Emily Brown believed reason was not that necessary and following our heart through our emotions could help us make better decisions. Using our emotions and listening to our instincts can help us make decisions which are sustainable and truly what we want to do, they say.
When we look through both aspects on this matter, we may find both of them correct since they can both apply as right in a situation when we overthink. For instance, think of a situation where you have to choose between these two: You have dreamed your whole life to be a musician who plays in an orchestra. You trust yourself on getting accepted to your dream school. On the other hand, your family thinks that being a musician shouldn’t be considered as a job and should only be done for entertainment purposes. They think that you should be an engineer or a doctor, someone who does an “important” job. You have considered both options and reached this resolution: If you choose to go to the music school, you will be doing your dream job thus achieve happiness in your life. It is also undeniable that being a musician won’t bring you money as much as the second option unless you become famous. You feel like you might let your family down. The second option seems more promising to you but if you choose that you know that you won’t be happy, at least for a long time until you get used to your job. In this case stated using your logic says that you should do what is expected by your family and watch your dreams and hopes fade. While your emotions and instincts tell you to choose your future and shape it as you like. I believe emotions suggest a better and more sustainable decision to proceed with. Even if you know everyone’s against your decision, when you do what you want in a sensible frame, after sometimes passes your hearth fills with relief because you know you have done the right thing. As they say, our instincts never let us down. That’s why I will go with following your instincts on this argument.
