Population Growth Vs. a Country’s Development

Low population refers to a situation where the number of people is less than the resources within an area. There are many advantages of having less population in a country.

Firstly, low population avails enough land for agriculture and settlement, which is also called as farmland preservation and farmland preservation anchors the farm economy of a nation.Farms do not stand alone. Each is an anchor of stability for other nearby farms. Each is a thread in a web of neighboring farms, farm businesses, and other human endeavors that support and rely upon each other.Last but not the least, farms provide food for the society.

Secondly, less possibility of slum development since people are few. Slums are unplanned quarters that develop at the edge of the main town, an example is Kibera slums which have developed at the edge of Nairobi city. They are shanty towns formed by many houses of poor quality where people of poor income can afford to live and pay the rent. Slums are associated with poor sanitation due to lack of proper garbage and sewage disposalMany of houses in slums are semi permanent .Houses in slums are very cheap since they are of poor quality and also due to low income of people living in slums. Slums are associated with high crime rate too.

Thirdly, less population avails people with enough food hence reducing the possibility of famine since there are less people to supply food. One reason why some people in Africa cannot find enough food is overpopulation.

Lastly, overpopulation in China is seen  as one of thr crucial factors in the existence of the corona virus. Overpopulation, together with the resulting natural calamities, is an enduring belief in the world of environmental activism. Devastating as it is, COVID-19 is not the first pandemic that has taught humanity a few things about its relationship with mother nature, and it likely won’t be the last.At face value, having too many people is obviously bad news: Densely populated cities and packed marketplaces have become petri dishes for the coronavirus, while containing the disease means social distancing, halting the economy and locking down entire urban areas and even countries. As much as it has turned people’s lives upside down, the pandemic has been regarded by many as an overdue relief for the planet. As numerous media reports observed, Venice’s canals cleared up, as did New Delhi’s sky, among the myriad evidence of the environment improving while humans stayed home. There was also a significant drop in global carbondioxide emissions after people stopped driving and flying, what climate advocates couldn’t achieve for many years.

To sum up, the  low population of a country has always been better the countries with less population is able to develop and grow more and apart from that the people in those countries have a more quality life with more facilites. Below is the picture of a slum.
