Nuclear Energy

Nuclear power is the use of nuclear reactions to produce electricity. Nuclear power can be obtained from nuclear fission, nuclear decay and nuclear fusion reactions. Presently, the vast majority of electricity from nuclear power is produced by nuclear fission of uranium and plutonium in nuclear power plants. The International Framework for Nuclear Energy Cooperation, formerly the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership, aims to accelerate the development and deployment of advanced nuclear fuel cycle technologies while providing greater disincentives to the proliferation of nuclear weapons. For countries that have no existing nuclear power infrastructure, we can share knowledge and experience to enable developing countries to make informed policy decisions on whether, when, and how to pursue nuclear power without any need to establish sensitive fuel cycle facilities themselves. We should be focused on collaboration to make nuclear energy more widely accessible in accordance with safety, security and non-proliferation objectives, as an effective measure to counter global warming, and to improve global energy security.

There is a debate about nuclear power.Proponents contend that nuclear power is a safe, sustainable energy source that reduces carbon emissions. The anti-nuclear movement contends that nuclear power poses many threats to people and the environment and is too expensive and slow to deploy when compared to alternative sustainable energy sources. In my opinion nuclear power is the most important energy source of the future. Let’s talk about some pros of nuclear power, first it doesn’t require lots of land. So we don’t need a lot of land as it produces a large amount of energy from just one plant. And it doesn’t have much waste products as nuclear fuel gives, so much energy that the amount of waste that comes from nuclear energy creation is very minimal compared to other energy provided. And there’s a very good ratio of that happening .And it also protects air quality. So the air has lots of emissions from other energy sources, but nuclear energy does not have any atmospheric emissions. And so because they don’t produce carbon dioxide they generally result in cleaner air, it is intermittent. And what I mean by that is that it can produce energy throughout the year. And while solar energy for instance can’t be produced in cloudy weather or when it’s raining. And for instance, hydroelectric energy can be produced if the flow of water gets cut off for whatever reason. Nuclear energy will always work. And it’s quite cost effective and reliable, which is quite important for any source of energy that we’re trying to build an entire civilization.

As you can see nuclear energy has a lot of positive effects. I think every country should make nuclear energy their main energy source since it will be needed in the future. And Developing countries that does not have any nuclear power plants should partner up and cooperate with developed countries for faster progress.
