I’ve always dreamt of watching the Northern Lights with my own eyes, which are also known as Aurora Borealis. Even its name sounds like a dream, isn’t it? It’s like they came out of a fantasy book. For me, they can be the definition of how magic looks. The reason for this is the disturbances in the magnetosphere caused by the solar wind. Still looks pretty magical to me.
This year, I decided to go North to see the Northern lights. So I made my search. Unless you’re lucky enough, it’s almost impossible to see the Northern lights unless you’re in the right place at the right time. After some research, I found out you can greatly increase your chances of being in Norway between late September and mid-March, during the darkest, moonless nights, and being mobile.
So this year, I arranged my flight with my mom, took our passports, and arranged the other necessities. My suitcase was ready two weeks before the flight. And finally, the day we went to Norway had come. We arrived to the Airfield at six AM and we settled down to the plane at eighteen past seven. Our flight had finally started and we flew to Norway. The sight of fluffy, pink clouds and blue-orange sky was beautiful. I’ve taken many photos even before we arrived to the Norway. Me and my mom slept in the plane for some hours because our flight was five hours long and I couldn’t slept well because I was way too excited to see the Northern Lights. Our plane finally started to land. If I was standing, I’d be jumping on my place. We got off the plane and I looked around with big, curious and excited eyes. There were no Northern Lights yet but I was still excited.
Three days passed after we arrived. I was waiting for Northern lights to be seen with my full energy and focus. The sky was filled with beautiful bright stars. Even now I couldn’t take my eyes off the sky, I wondered what I would feel when I saw the Northern Lights. Then finally, Northern lights slowly started to show themselves. My eyes opened widely to the view and I called my mom quickly. Those magical waves started with green, then pink, and finally blue. The view was wonderful and my jaw dropped. I opened my eyes widely as if I didn’t want to miss a single second. It didn’t last long. Only a few minutes. But those few minutes were fascinating and I felt like those minutes lasted forever.
I had come back to the town now. But still, I still feel the effect of Northern Lights and live feels more peaceful now.
