No One Is Too Small To Make A Difference

I’m really into environmental topics and I recently read a book about global warming. The name of the book is “No One Is Too Small To Make A Difference” by Greta Thunberg. It is one of the most convincing books I have ever read.

For those who do not know about the author, Greta Thunberg, is a 17 year old Swedish climate change activist who become a leading voice to make millions of people to join protests about climate change all around the World.

The book is mainly about taking action about the global crisis. The author mostly explains what will happen if we do not take action now. “Around the year 2030, in 10 years, we will be in a position where we will set off an irreversible chain reaction lead to the end of our civilization.” she says. This also includes a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by at least 50 per cent.

Although the new precaution taken by the EU, which is proposing to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions to 45 per cent, Greta Thunberg thinks that it is still not enough to keep global warming degree below 1.5°C.

Greta Thunberg also has her own simple steps to combat climate change. She mentions about flying less or not at all in her book reasoning that the air transportation produces the most emissions, compared to other modes of transportation. The second step is to cutting down on meat consumption or going vegan. Stopping eating meat can significantly assist in the fight against climate change says Greta. The last step is to join an activist movement. It can help making our voices heard to the whole World.

The book is easy to read for adults. Although she has written this book at the age of 16, I really liked the persuasive and powerful language that she uses. She also supports her ideas with a scientific language. I would highly recommend this book to especially adults and teenagers.I do not think that the book  is understandable for children. Every person above 15 should definitely read this book in order to be aware of the situation.
