One day, Carrie was looking through the old book her aunt had given her the day before. The book was so old that its pages had started to tear! It was a bit annoying, but Carrie didn’t mind too much because the book was hilarious.
The story was about a boy named Nicolas, a funny kid who misunderstood everything and always had trouble doing things properly. The funniest part was that all his adventures ended like a mix of Tom and Jerry—both sad and funny at the same time.
When Carrie opened the first page, something unexpected happened. Nicolas popped out of the book! “H-hello,” he stammered. Carrie stared at him with wide, scared eyes, unsure of what was happening.
Nicolas, however, seemed unfazed. He just laughed and began looking for a ball to play with. Carrie couldn’t believe her eyes—was this really happening? Still, her curiosity got the better of her, and she continued reading the book aloud. To her amazement, Nicolas started acting out whatever she read!
At first, she was startled, but soon she began to have fun with it. She laughed as Nicolas clumsily followed along with her words. However, whenever she closed the book, Nicolas would disappear back into its pages. The moment she reopened it, there he was again, ready for another adventure.
From that day on, Carrie discovered that she could experience Nicolas’s misadventures firsthand, right from the comfort of her room.
