As I was walking down in the bookstore I saw an old looking book. It intrigued me. I picked up the book looked trough it, reading some of it. It seemed interesting so I bought it with the other books I had found. I went home happy with the books I’ve bought.
I went home and placed the books in my bookshelf. I was kind of hungry so I ordered some food for me. While waiting I called one of my friends. It’s been a long time since I saw her and thought It’d be a good idea. My friend, aka Maddie, came a few minutes after my food arrived. She had already eaten so we watched a movie while I ate. Later on I told her about the books I’ve bought. She was a big bookworm like me. Maddie said that she wanted to see the old book. I wanted to look at it but I had forgot about it. We went in my room and Maddie took the book. She started looking trough it but then she suddenly stopped. I asked what was wrong. She said that when she came to the page 120 there was a phone number. I was confused. Like why would there be a phone number in an old book. But I got curious and told Maddie that we should call that number. She was hesitated at first but she agreed.
We called the number and waited for the person to pick it up. The person didn’t pick up so we just gave up on it. I had hoped that the person would pick up the phone, but they didn’t. I was disappointing. I didn’t try to mind it much as I would forget it in a couple of days.
A few months had past and I had read the book and actually loved it but still couldn’t forget about the number. Maddie convinced me to not call the number again so I didn’t but I had started to make up stories. I called Maddie and told her to come over. She came a few minutes later. I told her we would call the number again and that I wouldn’t take no for an answer. She didn’t say anything, so I picked up the book and turned to the page 120. We called again, but this time I felt like they would pick up the phone. We were waiting with excitement when the phone stopped ringing and a voice said hello. I was very happy that the person had picked it up. I said:
-Uhm. Hi, we found this number in a book and thought we would give it a call.
-Oh yeah. I wrote it for fun, to see who would call. I actually had forgot about it.
-Okay. I had thought it would something different. Bye then.
I hung up the phone feeling embarrassed. Maddie and I were kind of disappointed. We had thought of like mysterious stuff, not a person doing it for fun. It was definitely a surprise for us. But I think we had fun with imagining all those stuff.
