Museum of Birthday Wishes

The day I was waiting for weeks had finally arrived. It was my birthday. I was going to be surprised by my friends. Surprises shouldn’t usually be known beforehand, but as I had been instructed to wait for them in front of the mall, I was aware of it. I knew there would be a surprise for me, but I was unsure of what it would be.

That morning, I woke up happily and carefully prepared for my birthday. I started to wait in front of the mall after leaving the house and making a brief trip there. A friend of mine came over and brought me to the park, where they had a little birthday celebration for me. I was quite pleased to see the nicely adorned table with a cake on top. As soon as she spotted me approaching, my other friend lit the candles on the cake and exploded the confetti she was holding in her hand. I was delighted to find that they had made all of this for me, even if half of the “happy birthday” ornament they had prepared had dropped.

Whatever happened, happened at that very moment, when I was blowing out the candles. I suddenly teleported to another place. I was at the start of a long hall and had no idea what was happening. There were pictures all over the walls on either side of the hallway. There were little boxes with text under each image. From the age of zero to fifteen, these pictures were all shot on my birthday. I went down the hallway and looked at each image individually.

There was also a framed copy of the photo I had just taken with my friends. The corridor appeared to go on forever and there was no sign of an end in sight because all the frames ahead of that picture were empty. The exhibit here was dedicated to birthday wishes. I observed that the final image was distinct from the others in some way. Nothing was typed in the text box beneath the picture.

Suddenly I picked up a muddled sound like someone was talking in my ear. The voice told me to make a birthday wish. That helped me realize my purpose for being here. I had missed making a wish when I blew out the candles. I noticed that the only way to leave this museum was by making a wish.

To be able to make wishes, I began to consider the things I wanted. I then had a flashback to the surprise party my friends had planned for me. I wanted to have a great day and have a lot of fun with them today. As I opened my eyes after making my wish, I was blowing out the candles once more. I was out of the museum and back on my birthday. My wish was granted, and the entire day was filled with cake, shopping, and a lot of fun with my friends. The day was undoubtedly one of my greatest days.
