Discipline can be order, rules and prohibitions for people. In the dictionary definition, discipline is called strict order, refers to self-control. Freedom means that one can do whatever people want without harming others.
If we look at the relationship between these two terms, discipline begins where freedom ends. Because discipline means rules in person’s life, person’s freedom is limited.Everyone should aim to live without exceeding both freedom and discipline. Freedom is colored, discipline is black. One is boring, the other is fun. Freedom gives us happiness. Discipline reminds us of responsibilities, duties, and jobs. Sometimes people want to escape from their jobs and responsibilities and take refuge in their freedom. By clearing their minds, they feel more comfortable. In short, discipline limits freedom in people’s lives.
On the other hand, some people have different ideas.Nadia Boulanger say: “Without discipline, there can be no freedom.” This quotation, supports that freedom and discipline are two equal.People in some segments think freedom without discipline leads to chaos.Freedom gives confidence in certain situations and keeps people disciplined so that they do not make wrong decisions. For example: if you are not disciplined with your money, after some time, your money exhaust and you can not buy anything you want.As in this example, indiscipline limits freedom. When we put freedom and discipline on the scales, they should remain equal. If first one is up, the other side disappears, so the balance is broke down.
There are also those who do not agree with these two ideas. They think that freedom is harmful to discipline. For example, the teacher who is bad in student lessons makes a study program, but the student rejects the program because it is not compulsory to study under the name of freedom, he says it is my own will. As in the example, we cannot bind everything we want to freedom. Freedom also has a limit and should not interfere with our other personal qualities. As long as it prevents us, we cannot be successful in our work throughout our lives, we experience difficulties in human relations.
As a result, much thought has been put forward for these two terms. The connection between the two varies from person to person. Some people find discipline more important, others find freedom and others equal. Freedom and discipline are very deep concepts. And as you research, you can dive into it. Are freedom and discipline equal? If not, which is more important?
