The United Nations was founded in 1945 after the second world war to prevent destruction. But for some people they lost their reality.
For me, the United Nations become to defend major countries’ interests like the USA and UK. For example, supporting the USA in Iraq andVietnam. As we all know Turkey’s Operation of Peace, it was proposing to save Turks from ENOSIS (a greek fascist terror organization) but the United Nations didn’t support Turkey. However, the United Nations allowed the Turkish government. For me Turks were right because in Cyprus ENOSIS did a big massacre named bloody christmas and killed approximately 500 people in Nicosia. At that time it was the capital city of the Republic of Cyprus. Even though the government and the police organization did nothing. Because the government was supporting ENOSIS to unite with greece.
At that time there were two agreements called the London and Zurich agreements. It was giving power to make interventions in Cyprus, UK, the Republic of Turkey, Greece. After the massacre Turkey wanted to intervene to save Turks in Cyprus but the UK, Greece and United Nations didn’t support Turkey, even though there was an agreement giving authority to intervene in cyprus. But Turkey did. So most western countries embargoed Turkey and the country went into a big depression at the end of 70’s. Also the United Nations didn’t do anything about it except stopping the invasion when Turkey got half of the capital. We can say that about most wars in the world. For example, the Second Gulf War. The USA started an invasion of Iraq. The USA was claiming that Iraq has a mass destruction weapon. But they have no proof to prove that. Also the United Nations did nothing with that. So we can reach a conclusion with that.
The United Nations are not acting fair in international policies. They act and defend Western countries’ interests.
