Loneliness is a state of mind and a way to express the blank. It has neither positive nor negative meaning. Being lonely is equal to being one and only in a mental or physical place. One is the first number to qualify an existence. We are alive because we are one of the numbers in this whole world. It proves that even without any being or matter near us, we still are in fact living. It is liberating. To think that you do not need any condition to stay alive for a second.
A tree in a huge field. Not a single soul other than that lonely tree. Don’t you see the sublime beauty hidden in this picture? No reference to compare it to. It can be ten times bigger or smaller than me. What matters is that the tree is alone. Alone with its fear, happiness, anger and regret. No need to hurry, what makes it complicated is the other numbers in this equation.
Being able to listen to yourself to the point where you can achieve peace and happiness. A constant level with the sound of silence. A silence that can eat you alive. In a dream to be happy, there is no place for one. You need to be zero. Is solitude a stage before eternal tranquillity? Can one achieve this?
Till now I know that I am alive, can face my emotions and reach a heaven made by me. But what about the people and connections? Won’t I miss my friends and family? If this is something to be endured for a graceful ending, the process should be painful. This means that connections with people, animals and objects are as equally important as being happy. It is a sacrifice.
Being lonely is a war against other people and oneself. A song that is excruciatingly addicting. Once you get yourself into it, there is no coming back easily. This is due to a popular phenomenon known as routine. If you get accustomed to living without people, you will not enjoy human interactions anymore.
“I care for myself. The more solitary, the more friendless, the more unsustained I am, the more I will respect myself.” as Jane Eyre said. To some people it is a lifestyle, for others it is something to be avoided at all costs. Whatever it may be, loneliness will be awaiting as a companion of its own.
