LAST STATION

Marcus was sitting at the bus terminal, thinking about an old friend he had met on the road. Years ago, they had parted ways, both chasing the same dreams. While Marcus tried to rebuild his life in a big city, his friend Zoe had chosen to stay in her small town. Marcus often wondered how Zoe had been living her life.

Suddenly, he saw Zoe at the terminal. The years had made Zoe even more beautiful. When they hugged, they lost track of time. As their conversation deepened, Zoe smiled and said, “The best decision I ever made was to stay here.” Marcus was surprised by this statement. Why had Zoe chosen to stay in her town when so many opportunities awaited her elsewhere?

Zoe spoke about the warmth of the people in her town, the traditions, and the natural beauty that surrounded them. “People here support each other, they share every moment. When I was in the city, I was lonely and uncertain. But here, I have roots, and a life waiting for me,” she explained.

Marcus saw the happiness in Zoe’s eyes. He began to question his own life. He realized how lonely the hustle and bustle of the city had made him. They had chosen different paths, but Zoe reminded him of the values his own decisions had led to.

At the end of their conversation, Zoe said, “Life is not about what you choose, but about the meaning your choices bring.” In that moment, Marcus made his decision. Maybe he would leave city life behind, return to his town, and build a life full of love, like Zoe had. From that moment on, Zoe’s words echoed in his mind: “The best decision I ever made was to stay and be with my loved ones.”
