Thinking is a conscious cognitive process that happens independently of sensory stimulation. Information has always made people want to know more, therefore pondering has become an everyday activity for us
Dopamine, serotonin, endorphins, and oxytocin are released during thinking. These hormones improve your mood in the process but in the long term, knowing certain things may have you wishing to not know about them. Understanding how the world works, realizing everything is meaningless and the thought that everything you love is not permanent, gives you many reasons not to be happy about it. You are right to regret knowing that.
“For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief.” As mentioned in Ecclesiastes 1:18 becoming worldly-wise and spiritually wise can open the eyes to the harshest and saddest realities, in this way, ignorance is bliss.
Knowing is not bad, but it can make you feel that way, this should not make you want to be ignorant but to be ready to face reality. In my opinion, choosing to accept what is true and accepting to continue with it even though it makes you feel down rather than being happy in ignorance is a smarter option.
Knowing and choosing which one to ignore is what I admire, question marks in my mind lead me to overthink what is going on which is more mentally draining compared to knowing the exact thing because when you can not stop worrying about it, your mind tends to create the worst scenario.
Cortisol hormone is the main villain that creates overthinking, it increases blood pressure and blood sugar, puts pressure on the immune system, and can even lead to infertility in women. Would you prefer these to accept what is real? I do not think so.
Reality is our friend because we do not live in a world that is so pure and transparent. Sadness is not a feeling we should escape from, it is an emotion we should embrace.
