I’m back with a discussion question again. But this time is a bit different because we need knowledge about the topic for discussion.
Is the metaverse a threat that changes the perception of reality or is it the truth itself?
Let’s start with what is the word “metaverse”? According to Oxford Languages, “It is a virtual-reality space in which users can interact with a computer-generated environment and other users.”
In short, the metaverse is the next generation of the web and the thing that will shape our future lifestyle. One of the biggest technology companies has already started to develop the metaverse. Exactly, it will be important in our life.
What are the possible disadvantages and advantages of the metaverse?
Disadvantages:
-Technology addiction can increase so quickly. So, humans can be detached from real life.
-With the magnificence of the virtual world, they can ignore the real problems and the real danger on Earth.
-The rivalry can increase, there can be some economic crises in countries. Also, the companies that produce and develop metaverse can be so rich, and thereby, there will be income injustice.
Advantages:
-Life will be easier. Metaverse will give you the ability to do whatever you want and go wherever you want whenever you want. You will not have to go outside to visit somewhere.
-Metaverse will let you interact with virtual things. In the same way, they would in the real world. So, it will combine reality and virtuality.
-It will be similar to the real world. You will be able to buy land there.
As conclusion,
I think the answer depends on the person. Deliberativeness must continue in the virtual world too. But for me, it is the truth itself. I think it will be a different impression.
