What does the word “school” mean for people today? Is it just a place surrounded by walls on all four sides? If it is, why almost all people are going to school in their early ages? Or is the word “school” mean “every place where learning and knowledge exists” ?
Actually, the school represents various kinds of things for people depending on their teachers, friends, opportuinities, social skills, academic careers, grades and psychological feelings in the school setting. The memories students have been experiencing also affects their opinion about school substantially.
The point of view of people about school is also related with themselves. The ones who develop themselves and benefit from every single oppportunity at school have more positive thoughts about school compared to the people who just went to school with forcing of their parents.
First of all, school is not a prison or just a place surrounded by walls if person knows how to take advantage of it as I said. School can be a terrific place for people who just attends classes and learn nothing at the end of the day. When these kind of people grow up in the future, forming a really wrong opinion about school in their head, they always blame school for their failures in their life. When ideas of these people come together, they cause a kind of prejudice which mislead society and public opinion about school and school environment.
However, sometimes it is not only fault of student to hate or dislike school. While in some countries, the system of education is designed really precisely by government which can provide the environment for students to be educated in a well-qualified way, in some other countries the system force students to memorize all the topics or courses they attend which actually destroys their love of school and desire to learn and study. In these kind of countries, most students are exhausted at the end of every single school day as they are forced to do things they don’t want to and they become as happy as a clam when they went back to home from school. As a result, they search for happines and joy in video games and on social media instead of reading or learning new things/developing themselves which I think is a dissapointment on behalf of them.
Secondly, I think the word school is not only the place where people go and learn science, maths and literature. Everywhere which learning exists should be defined as school. This idea can help fixing the bad thoughts and negative bias of people on school.
To summarize, the benefits of the school depends on how students benefit from it. If a student is sociable and easygoing, he/she can stand out and be succeseful in both his/her school life and carreer.
