Is Cloning Ethical?

Cloning is the process of creating unique creatures having DNA that is identical or nearly similar, either through artificial or natural means. Asexual reproduction is a process used by some organisms in nature to create clones. Cloning is the method of making cloned organisms (copies) of cells and DNA fragments in the realm of biotechnology. Cloning has some pros and cons.

Cloning looks to be a viable option to restore populations since many creatures on the globe are on the verge of extinction. Cloning even has the potential to increase the gene pool’s variety by using the genetic material of previously deceased species. Cloning also has the potential to boost agricultural output, notably that of animals and fresh vegetables, which is a significant benefit. The elimination of the genetic “lottery” and random configurations in the genes during meiosis is assured by controlling the biological mechanisms underlying the existing features of interest.

Nevertheless, cloning has some downsides. Concerns over cloning’s ethical implications are among the biggest objections. Critics claim that even the simple act of producing clones necessitates the exploitation of life, aside from the notion of controlling living things. Also, clones will not have the same behavioral characteristics while sharing the same genetic makeup. The similarity of their physical appearances is not guaranteed, except from that. Several experts concur that cloning is still not sufficiently evolved enough to be utilized to support the conservation of species. Cloning must be acknowledged by some scientists since it ignores the primary causes of extinction in the first place: habitat degradation and hunting. Lastly, the majority of objections to cloning are based on the child’s genome’s lack of distinctive nuclear DNA. Yet, given that the operations are carried out correctly, the idea that cloning would solely result in the elimination of genetic uniqueness would no longer be valid.

In conclusion, cloning has some pros but its cons outweigh the pros that’s why I think cloning is not ethical.
