Ignorance and Happiness

I believe that knowledge is one’s source of power and that it defines someone’s superiority over another. But knowledge is also something that should be used very carefully. I have observed that people tend to think of information as a thing that can be thrown around when they are bored or something that they should brag with. This type of people are the reason why knowledge becomes dangerous or even a burden to our dear society.

Not everyone can understand the process of thinking. When I state this Iknow that I am included in the same group of people as well. Because the only thing that knowledge gives you is more thoghts nagging you inside your mind.

Throughout our history as a society, every peace of information that people have discovered and learned has been improved by a certain group of people. This group of people are the ones who are able to use the information that they have as efficiently as possible.

Although these people are the ones that help the mankind improve, they become the ones who lack happiness. They cannot relax and think about unimportant things because of the curiosity that eats them up. They can’t sleep, eat or perform any necessary activity to stay alive like we do.

There are also famous philosophers like Socrates who embraces the same thoughts. In his faomus words “ I know that Iknow nothing.” some people think that he invites people to ignorance. Even though it is not a common theory, it is still a perspective that is actively used by other people to express themselves.

Another saying that is commonly used is “ Ignorance is bliss.” It was seen in a poem from Thomas Grey. Then people have commented on it and quoted it in various places. The most known one would be Thomas Jefferson quoting when saying “ If ignorance is bliss, why aren’t more people happy?”. This saying also brings out the fact that being ignorent makes you happier even though it is constantly shamed to be ignorant.

To conclude, I would say that knowedge does make people unhappy. My reasoning would be that it brings an unwanted and torturous curiosity which disturbs one’s living conditions in a way.
