IF I DON’T ROW THERE İS NO ONE ELSE TO ROW

The Ringelmann effect is called the decrease in the effect of work as the number of people increases. But there is an other saying ”If we don’t row,the boat won’t go” Which one do you think is true?

First of all, I think that Ringelmann effect is more true than ”If we don’t row, the boat won’t go”. Because let’s give an example that most people gives: let’s say that you’re in a war and there are two sides. One side has more people in number and the other side has less people in number. Which one do you think will suceed ? Some people will say the one with more number will have more favour but they are actually wrong. Because the side with less people will know about the diffrence between other man and each participant will feel that their own effort is critical for the war.  On the other hand the other side will feel relieved that there are more people in number and they will fight with less effort. Let’s give an other example that is more likely to happen in real life. As we all know  being national in idividual sports is more easy than being national with team sports. Why do you think is that? It actually comes to the same conclusion individual one will be more determined to win because there is no one who can back him up. It’s just him. There are many examples that proves this opinion right but lets talk about the expriment that Ringelmann did.                                                                                                                                                In 1913 Ringelmann had people pull on a rope attached to a pressure gauge and found out that the more people pulled, the further below their potential they would perform.Ringelmann attributed this opinon to two sources: coordination losses and motivation losses. He thought that with more people they will “lack of simultaneity of their efforts” and in some other cases some workers will lose some motivation due to ”trusting others to finish the work”

To sum it all up, the Ringelmann effect is more true than the saying saying ”If we don’t row,the boat won’t go” because with more people the effort will decrease due to thinking that the another member might work a little harder.
