Humanity After War

I woke up to the sound of the bell. You might ask why we don’t use a clock or maybe even the alarm on a watch. It’s all because of the war. The war between Humans and Technology. They turned against us. The war went on for 6 years. Then we decided to put an end to it.

There was this one EMP bomb, the size of a ballistic missile, created by the military. They used it, and we’ve never used technology since. We didn’t use technology because we all feared they might come back. Come back to kill us all. Anyway, as I woke up, I rubbed my eyes. It was a fresh day. David was also awake. We hugged each other. Then David and I went to the breakfast area. It was random all the time, but the only thing we had to do was find a crowded place. Although it looked a little different than usual, everyone was shocked by the scene. I got curious, so I got closer and closer until I saw it. There was a body in the middle of the road. Someone suggested choosing 3 people to investigate the body. The man to my right shouted as he pointed at me, “I say we choose him!” According to the votes, it was me, David, and a girl. As I got closer to the body, I noticed something. It was the murder weapon! I can’t believe it’s still there! I carefully removed the knife without touching the grip so we could get the fingerprints. There was nothing. No fingerprints on the knife. Maybe the murderer used gloves? The knife was extremely sharp. It could easily cut a finger completely. There was no other evidence other than the knife. No fingerprints, no footprints, nothing. We couldn’t do anything but move the body away from the crowd. Then we had lunch because we missed the breakfast we were supposed to eat 3 hours ago. I found a pack of biscuits and shared them with David. It didn’t make us full, but it was enough. We helped other people and farmed some crops to sell tomorrow. It was already nighttime. David had to go early because he had a job to do. Seriously, what job can you have at this time of the day? It must be around 12 a.m. Well, I don’t know the time, but there’s something I do know. I’m really tired. I accidentally took the longer path to my house. It was very discreet. Then I saw a figure in the dark. It was running towards me. Was it a girl? Yes, it was. She was the one chosen by the crowd to investigate the body. She got closer and closer until I could easily see her face. It was full of fear. She kept running after passing me. Then I heard a familiar voice. It was David! He looked kind of mad. He began shouting, “Catch her, she killed someone else!” Hold on, was she the murderer? There’s no way. She looked very innocent too. But that doesn’t matter. What matters is that we catch her before she does something bad. I sprinted as fast as I could toward her. She wasn’t very fast, so I finally caught up with her. I held her by her arm to try to stop her from running. It worked very easily. David also came after a few seconds. He forced the girl to inhale from a strange piece of napkin. David was so happy. I asked him why he was so happy, and he replied with joy, “We caught her, man, the murderer!” That’s right. I totally forgot that part. David threw the napkin away and slowly placed the girl down. After that, he started staring at me without saying a word. Then he punched me over and over again. I felt dizzy. He grabbed another strange napkin from his pocket and pressed it against my nose and mouth until I passed out. What is happening? Why did David punch me? I helped him, didn’t I? I woke up in a basement or something. I was feeling nauseous. David was standing there in front of the table, and his back was turned. There was a collection of knives at the back of the table. They were the same ones as the murder weapon from the body. Was it him the whole time? After I trusted him with all my heart and helped him whenever I could. What about the girl? Was she a part of this? No, she wasn’t. Her lifeless body was on the floor. Her pale face was looking directly at me.

I need to escape from here. It wasn’t long until I noticed the shackle on my feet. It was impossible to get away. Then I noticed something to my left. I turned pale as soon as I saw it. It was a robot. A robot that was designed to kill humans. He was plotting another war! There wasn’t only one; there were hundreds of robots. I had no escape. I finally accepted my fate. The village is doomed. The whole world is doomed.
