Helen and Jake

Helen Humble looked at the enchanted piano in her hands and felt happy.

She slowly walked to the window and saw her reflections on the cold cloudy window. She had always loved grey Liverpool with its ripe, regurgitated rivers. Somehow, it was a place that encouraged her to feel happy.

Then, she saw something that she could not explain in the distance or was it, someone. It was the figure of Jack McCallister. Jack was a special friend with pretty fingers and slimy lips.

Helen gulped. She glanced at her own reflection. She was an adorable, ruthless, tea drinker with tall fingers and wide lips. Her friends saw her as a gentle, gorgeous god. Once, she had even helped a puppy recover from a flying accident.

But not even an adorable person who had once helped a puppy recover from a flying accident was prepared for what Jack had in store today.

The rain hammered like jumping cats, making Helen sleepy.

As Helen stepped outside and Jack came closer, she could see the steep glint in his eye.

Jack gazed with the affection of 7439 virtuous old-fashioned owls. In hushed tones, he said, “I love you and I need to know if you love me too.”

Helen looked back, even more, sleepy and still fingering the enchanted piano. “Jack, I love you too, just not in the way you meant and I don’t want anyone in my life any more,” she replied.

They looked at each other with lonely feelings, like two raspy, red rabbits swimming at a very articulate dinner party, which had jazz music playing in the background and two stable uncles partying to the beat.

Helen regarded Jack’s pretty fingers and slimy lips. “Of course I feel the same way!” revealed Helen with a delighted grin.

Jack looked confident, his emotions blushing like a burnt, brawny book. Now that he knows she had feelings for him, he could be the most over confident person in the whole world.
