Genetic Copying

When you see the title, It’s normal for you to think “What is this?” So I will define it first and then talk about it…

Genetic copying is duplication, as related to genomics, refers to a type of mutation in which one or more copies of a DNA segment (which can be as small as a few bases or as large as a major chromosomal region) is produced. Duplications occur in all organisms. Now you might ask me “Why do scientists do this?” They often clone genes in order to study and better understand them. To clone a gene, researchers take DNA from a living creature and insert it into a carrier like bacteria or yeast. Every time that carrier reproduces, a new copy of the gene is made.I don’t want to make it hard for you to understand so I will use the word ‘cloning’ instead of ‘Genetic copying’ .

What are the positive effects of cloning? Let me tell you. Cloning reproduces the healthiest animals, thus minimizing the use of antibiotics, growth hormones and other chemicals. Consumers can benefit from cloning because meat and milk will be more healthier, consistent, and safer.

What about the negative effects? The negative effects include an increase in birth size and a variety of defects in vital organs, such as the liver, brain and heart. Other consequences include premature aging and problems with the immune system. Another potential problem centers on the relative age of the cloned cell’s chromosomes.

In conclusion, I talked about the negative and positive effects of genetic copying known as cloning. It is a complicated process that will help the health sector very much by cloning(creating an identical person by getting the DNA of the person needed.). Thank you for reading!!
