When kids play games, they usually mess up and then whine about it, but by today’s standards, no one gets to mess up. It is said that people who mess up never get to see the sunlight again.
The past few years have been stressful for everyone. The governments figured that the population globally was increasing rapidly, and they needed to find a solution. They talked to people that are upper class and said they wanted something entertaining. At first, they couldn’t figure out anything fun that could get rid of a part of the population. In the end, they came up with the idea that was brilliant. For the rest of us, it was the worst idea that we had ever heard of.
The idea to make people play games sounded innocent, but it was anything but that. The rules for every game were simple and the same. Firstly, there could only be one winner, and that winner would be the upper class in the end. Secondly, win. And every year, there is a selection to pick the lucky people.
I was one of the ones to be considered lucky for years. I was never picked. That was until last year. I was picked and was instantly taken to a dark room along with others. The game we were supposed to ‘play’ was going to be announced in a day. That night literally no one spoke. Other than a few people trying to calm themselves or others.
The other day we found out we were going to play ‘’Freeze’’. Some are freezers that freeze people, and others are fire-free frozen ones. And anyone who moves while being frozen is considered to be going against the rules. But since the point of the game is winning, nobody would save each other.
We were going to keep playing until there was only one person left. Which was going to be exhausting for the ones who kept going.
At the start of the play, we were divided in half to be aware of the freezers and fires. I was a freezer in the first round, which meant I had a higher chance of winning. And I wasn’t wrong I did win.
I was in a freezer for a few rounds until I was picked to be fired. After 10 minutes into the game, someone froze a girl next to me, and before I could react, they froze me as well. I noticed the girl next to me starting to tremble a bit, so I said, “Don’t… don’t budge an inch!” in a low tone. She heard me and tried to keep still as possible. After a long minute, someone came and freed who was running quickly. I was shocked that someone freed us.
After hours of playing, there were only two of us left. It was me and someone I didn’t really know. I was picked to be the freezer which was great for me. After 15 minutes of running around, I finally tagged the girl and won the game. After winning, I was transferred to somewhere bright. It was a place full of green and technology at the same time. It was beautiful…
