Focus: The Review

Movies have the power to take us to lots of different universes. Sometimes they make us feel like we are on a whole different planet, or we feel like we are in a complete future dystopia. But in this review, I will take you to New Orleans, with the movie Focus.

The story begins in New Orleans where a con-man named Nicky meets Jess and agrees to teach her the ways of fraud. We see Will Smith as Nicky and Margot Robbie as Jess as the main stars of the cast. Jess turns out to be more capable of the art of fraud than Nicky hasn’t expected and she becomes a member of Nicky’s team and his big robbery plan.

The movie seperates into two parts which impressed me as I wasn’t expecting such twists. After the heist, the thing between Jess and Nicky ends. Even though, the two meet in Buenos Aires after a year. Nicky’s taking on a challenge – he’s on a mission to acquire a Formula 1 team owned by McEwen car engine model for another team he’s agreed to help out. But things get out of hand when he understands Jess is now together with Garriga.

This movie is an absolute must-watch, with its intriguing plot, captivating setting, and phenomenally talented cast. Furthermore, despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the movie proved to be a massive success, grossing $158 million, more than triple its initial budget of $50 million. The directors who also are the writers of the movie, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa made incredible plot twists that left most of us in shock.

In conclusion, I certainly recommend the movie Focus if you enjoy watching crime comedy-dramas and I rate it a 7 out of 10. Let me know what you think!
