FLEXIBILITY AND COMFORT AT WORK: REMOTE WORKING

With coronavirus lockdowns, traditional perceptions for working conditions has dramatically changed as it was an obiligation for that process. People who once worked only in their offices have begun to work away from their offices. Although that process was initially perceived as unusual by many people who were accustomed to work traditionally in the offices, they got accustomed to that new working conditions after some time. People have not only got accustomed to that new style of working but they have also highly appreciated it for a great many reasons.

Remote working with which many organizations and people met during pandemic is gaining popularity day by day. These advantages can be evaluated from the perspectives of employers and workers.

Firstly, it offers flexibility for employees. They can do their work whenever and wherever they like. They can work in any time during day which they regard as the most fruitful for themselves without being restricted to office hours.

The second advantage of remote woking is the increased productivity that flexibility brings. Some people feel captured in the office atmosphere and by the rules in it. Even the way of dressing that some organizations expect from their employees is considered as unnatural and as a barrier against productivity by some employees.

The third advantage of remote working is the comfort that it offers to employees. They do not have to get up early in the morning and rush to their offices when they work from their home. It is a save on both  time and energy.

Last but not the least, remote working is economical from many aspects. As employees do not have to go to their offices to work they do not have to spend time and energy for it. In addition, they can also get rid of the costs of transportation and the other costs like eating out.

The above mentioned advantages are also positive for the employers as they benefit from the productivity and motivation of the workers. There are also some additional benefits of remote working for employers such as saving from rent or setting up an office and office costs such as utilities, furniture, cleaning, etc.

There are also some disadvantages of remote working for both employees and employers. It creates the sense of loneliness or feeling of isolation for employees. For some employees, home atmosphere may not be suitable for working and they may not be able to focus. In addition, the lack of sufficient communication with colleagues and boss may hinder some aspects such as sharing opinions.

As for the disadvantages of the remote working for employers, it gives the sense of not being able to control employers in terms of what they produce. It is also difficult to create a team soul with remote working. However, the advantages of remote working outweigh its disadvanatages and it seems that it will take the place of office working especially for some professions in the near future.
