Destiny of Women

Can you believe there are still over 130 million girls do not go to school today? Is not it mind-blowing? Not in every nation but there are still so many nations that restricts women. Not just in education, in every kind of ways you can possibly imagine. So I think we all can come to agree that “Geography is destiny for women”.

Firstly, let’s start with the reasons why there are lack of education opportunities. There are many reasons but one of the most common factor is poverty. In countries like India, Guatemala, Haiti the parents usually cannot afford to send their children to school and even if they have the money to send at least one of their children, it is always the boy. Other than that in that nations there is a reflection such as the girls need to stay home and work to aid their family while their brothers are in school.

Secondly, it brings us to the underage child marriage. In Chad and Afghanistan, the statistics demonstrates that they have one of the highest rates of child marriages in the world. They force their young girls to get married and then they comprehensibly miss out of school and they can’t receive any education. Furthermore, they also forbid them to learn with boys to protect their “purity”. They think like when they get married, their purity will now be the purity of her husband. Their husbands control their life after they get married.

Thirdly, so many women are facing death threatens on their way to school. For instance, in Afghanistan, they are getting thrown acid to their faces. Moreover, in so many countries like Afghanistan, girls encounter domestic violence and marital rape. Recently in Pakistan, 15 years old girl named Malala Yousafzai got murdered just because she was an activist that supports women’s education rights and she just wanted to go to school, attend the classes that her boy coevals attend.

We might not come across a lot to those challenges in our country but it does not indicate that such problems do not exist elsewhere. To wrap up the things the geography where we live, determines our life. This situation is a global crisis and female’s education shouldn’t be less important than male’s education.
