Days Full of Darkness

Anna woke up when the bells rang-as always. Humans needed a bell to wake up because the bell helped them understand when night-1 started. Night-1 was when people got to school and work. After their long day, the bells would ring again and that meant night-2 had started. When night-2 started, everyone would go to bed and sleep. After she heard the bells, she got out of bed, washed her face and started getting ready for school. She wore what she always did. Long thick pants, wool socks and rainboots. A sweatshirt that covered most of her body and a coat on top. If she dressed any more lightly, she could freeze. Every day before heading out of her house, she would open the curtains and look outside to see if anything changed, but the answer would always be no. The streets would be dark and cold.

Anna always wished she could walk to school but she knew she couldn’t. The cold would never let her. She would always wait for a “cube bus” to take her to school. She liked the buses because they were nice and warm. Also, she was able to see some of her friends in the bus and talk to them on the way. A cube bus was named that way because it was a giant cube. The bus had the responsibility to take all the children that lived in the neighborhood and drop them to school.

After Anna got to school, she went straight to her classroom. Her school only had one window.  The classrooms didn’t have any windows, instead they had vents. The vents filtered fresh air into the classrooms. The only window was in the hallway. It was a giant window that showed the rest of the city. If Anna got bored during the recess, she would go the window with her friends to see all the city lights, buildings and the huge trains that carried the adults.

When school ended, she went home with one of her friends in the Cube bus. After they got to the house, they ate dinner and went to Anna’s room to do their homework. They had math homework. They did it quickly and watched one of their favorite movies “Harry Potter”.

“This movie is crazy; how can the night-1 be full of light?” Anna said. “It’s just a movie, besides it is called ‘The Day’ not night-1. It looks fun I wish we had days to.” her friend replied. They chatted a bit more about the movie after it ended. While they were arguing about the term “Day” again Anna’s mom knocked on their door and told them that it was time so sleep. “Girls didn’t you hear the bell? It’s time to go to sleep.” The girls nodded, turned off their light and went to sleep.
