Adam opened his eyes with the sound of the alarm indicating that it was morning, it was dark as always. He looked out the window and saw the Moon and shining stars. Adam was 16 years old and therefore he had never seen the Sun. About 34 years ago, the sun disappeared as a result of a huge explosion and people began to live in endless darkness.
Half-awake, Adam took his flashlight and walked towards the bathroom. He washed his hands and face and brushed his teeth. His mother said, “Adam, breakfast is ready.” He went downstairs to have his breakfast. His father was also ready to go to work and he was waiting for Adam to have breakfast. “Good morning dad, good morning mom,” Adam said. His mother said, “Good morning to you too, but if you linger any longer, you will miss the bus!” Adam completely forgot that he was going to school today. He quickly had his breakfast and went upstairs. He put on his school uniform, took his bag and quickly left the house.
While walking towards the bus stop, he realized that he did not take his flashlight and he ran back home. His mother opened the door with a flashlight in her hand and she said, “I think you forgot this.” Adam thanked his mother and took the flashlight. As he continued walking to the bus stop, he heard his phone ringing. It was his friend Jack calling. Adam answered the phone and said, “Hi, what’s up Jack!” . “The bus is approaching your stop, I hope you won’t be late again.” Jack said. “Now?” Adam said and he started running. Adam reached the stop at the last minute and got on the bus. He slowly walked forward and tried to see Jack and saw that Jack was sitting in the back. He went to him and sat down.
“Did you do your math homework?” Jack asked. “I think I did, didn’t you?” Adam said. “I forgot homework, but I think you can give it to me,” Jack said. “If you do, I will buy you dinner.” he added. When Adam heard the word food, he immediately accepted. While they were talking, the bus arrived at the school. They got off the bus and went to class. The first lesson passed very quickly. Second lesson was math and the math teacher forgot to check the homework. The third lesson was geography and it passed quickly too.
After another 5 boring classes, school was over and Adam walked up to Jack and he said “Ahh, these artificial lights are giving me such a headache!” . “I have a bad headache too,” Jack said. “Can we have dinner another day?” . “I think we should do that too. I need to get some rest.” Adam said and they took their flashlights out of their bags and started walking towards the exit.
