Humans are very hungry for knowledge. Wherever we see something, we wonder what it is, where it came from, who made it, how it was done. Is it really necessary to wonder? Look and pass…
But people cannot do that. We instantly start to wonder like “who is this?” or “what is it?” Because of all this curiosity, we get into a lot of trouble. The more a person wonders and learns, the more problems he has to deal with.
Let me explain this to you, when we are babies, we know very little things and therefore we have less to think about. Or imagine you are a little child. We definitely know less than we do as adults at that age. And that’s why the fewer things we worry about, the fewer things we think about.
Actually, I said all this to defend one idea: Information makes people unhappy. You can find a lot of meanings in this sentence. For example, when I say this, some of you will say, “So we shouldn’t know anything to be happy?” But that’s not the point here. I want to say, if you know too much, then you have a lot of problems. So I do not want to say “Do not learn anything!”, these are very different things.
For example, let me give you a very simple example. Most people love to eat chocolate, even some people like me cannot stop eating chocolate. When we were little, we used to eat chocolates without thinking, right? We wouldn’t care what would happen next. But as we grew up, we learned the harmful effects of chocolate. Eating too much chocolate can damage our teeth, cause us to gain weight or cause some diseases. And after learning these, people cannot eat much chocolate even if they want to. I think it is very sad for many people, especially for me. Did you see? Even a small information can upset people. Yes, information does not harm us, but facts are sad.
So, no matter how useful it is to learn something, if it upsets you, I think it is better not to know.
